Another subscriber, Ray Knowles, was nice enough to submit photos of his glass sandblastings he did LED lit glass stands.
He shared the below details on them:
I do a lot of this type of work, (see pics) mostly 20 cm x 15 cm x 6 mm glass, base made from MDF off-cuts, painted and illuminated with LED´s. As masking materials are very scarce and expensive in Brasil, I prepare my artwork using Adobe Illustrator, send the file to a copy shop where they cut it on regular sign vinyl which is placed on the glass, weeded and blasted. To avoid double images, everything is blasted on the reverse side of the glass, so arts have to be mirrored before cutting.
The only different piece is the deer, it’s a combination of hand cut vinyl mask and carpenters glue applied with a brush. Hope this is helpful. If you wish to see more of my work on Facebook . . go to:- vidro.art.br
To provide a bit more info, MDF stands for Medium-density fibreboard which is found at most home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot. Also, for those in America, the glass size he used corresponds to about 7-3/4″ by 6″ and about 1/4″ thick.
What I really liked about his sandblast etchings, is he uses a mix of stage depths and shadings for a more artistic effect. The below etching uses some cool shading techniques.

My favorite is below which shows the photo on the right and the sandblast etched glass of it on the left.

LED lighting makes a great difference, may even get me to try again blasting something other than rusty steel
