Hello Eric,
Do you know of any sources to get Black Magnum in central Ohio?
We manufacture lighting fixtures and occasionally have the need to sandblast glass from clear to frost. Do you think black magnum would work well for this?
Thanks Bruce
Bruce,
I am not sure where in central Ohio but if you’re near Columbus or a city, you should definitely be able to find a place to pick up some abrasive. I always search in google for this and find a few places in the local listings.
Black magnum should work, but I usually use aluminum oxide for glass blasting because it last longer and can be reused more. I think its actually more cost effective in the long run. A even better abrasive for glass is silicon carbide.
hi eric i have a 20 gallon portable pressure pot sand blaster and having a problem with product flowing in tank , how can i fix this problem and what is the smallest air compressor? i have a peerless p17 320lpm 3.2hp but runs out of air to fast, i have cheked lines for leaks am i doing somthing wrong? should air still come out of nozel when hand lever is closed?
That depends. Is the abrasive plugging up the nozzle?
no the nozzle is clear but when i shake the pot product will flow but when i stop shaking pot so dose fow of product.
Okay, so you are saying the air is coming out but without abrasive- correct?
I talk about this a lot in my manual to fix abrasive flow problems. The #1 problem that I always recommend is to fill the pot at least half way with these inexpensive sandblasters. They are designed poorly so the lower abrasive (maybe 1/8 – a quarter) binds up on the sides of the walls and isn’t being funneled properly to the valve. You can see the bottom is somewhat flat and the interior walls are rugged so it catches the abrasive. Of course smooth walls would slide down better. This is why you have to shake the pot to get abrasive to roll down into the valve. Its ridiculous
